When we first started this class I thought that I had no prior knowledge of the content and that I had no idea how social justice related to digital media. I still believe that I am far off from truly understanding the connection but I know now that examples can be seen in everyday life. For example censorship is an issue that every student is very familiar with. Whether it be censoring music or the internet this is a very prevalent and ongoing discussion; the discussion being is censorship necessary and what should be censored. In my opinion I believe that the government should not censor things that they view as obscene on the internet. I think it is the right of the users of the internet to be allowed to post what they want. There are exceptions though however and those involve privacy rights and acts being posted online that are illegal. These types of actions should be able to be censored for they are either interfering with other peoples' rights or are in direct violation with the law. The types of governments that censor the internet so that the citizens cannot see news from around the world, and only see news that is positive about that country is where censorship turns wrong in my opinion. The government shouldn't be able to stand in the way of it's citizens knowing the truth.
